From The Pastor’s Heart – April 2017
This month we celebrate the greatest event in the life of every Christian- the resurrection of our Lord. This was the time when God set history aright. No longer could Satan or his cronies deny that Jesus was the Son of God. The truth was out and the rest is history.
What does the resurrection mean to you? For Satan it, means defeat. He knows that his rule will be short lived and that his days are numbered and he is determined to take as many with him as possible. He will lie, cheat, steal, manipulate, slander, and deceive in order to destroy you.
Personally, the resurrection means hope, a new beginning, life, peace, and joy which come as the result of having salvation from my sins. What I once was and did is now past and I look forward to each new day and the opportunities that I encounter. I agree with the writings of Watchman Nee.
Watchman Nee was a Chinese Christian and church leader during the mid 20th century. He was saved when he was 17 and led a life of writing and evangelism. He once wrote, “Our old history ends with the cross; our new history begins with the resurrection.”
I am just as excited today, if not more than the day I received Christ. That being said, I long to see others enjoy the new life that I have. In next few weeks we have the opportunity to invite friends, family, neighbors, and people in the community to join with us on Easter Sunday. We are calling this THE BIG INVITE.
It is said that only 2% of us will ask someone to come and go to church on any given Sunday. What if we all made a commitment to ask for Easter? The impact could be huge. Now is the time to help your friends decide on a place of worship this Easter Sunday. Many are waiting upon your invitation. The scripture reminds us that we have not because we ask not. Are you willing to ask your friend, neighbor, or colleague? Let’s make this a great time of worship.
